Yes I know that is quotes from the God awful film Mortal
Kombat… sue me.
My course in Game art
at De Montfort has come and now it is time for me to step my game up. To be
honest when I look at my fellow peer’s artwork I feel intimidated but this is
the sole reason I joined the course so that I could acquire the skills to
become the best artist I can become. It wasn’t too long ago that I didn’t have
a care in the world and didn’t take much interest in anything other than video
games but then along came Batman Arkham City and I was inspired by the concept
art. I was just scrolling through at what I had unlocked and was blown away by
the sheer detail put into each artwork. I
like the way they were going for a realistic approach but still keeping true to
the comic theme, I also loved the dark and gritty feel they used on characters
such as Penguin as they replaced his classic monocle with the base of a glass
bottle (which was an incident he had in a bar fight). After I had a look at what I had unlocked I
was possessed to unlock the rest of these art works, this is what inspired me
as I would love to contribute towards games like Batman by my artwork. Ever since looking at the concept art in Batman
I started drawing in my spare time these fictional characters and after playing games
that I really enjoy, I look up for the
concept art towards games such as Bio Shock: infinite, Mortal Kombat 9, Far Cry
3 etc.
Here are some that I particularly like:
Batman Arkham City- Batman and Joker
Bio Shock: Infinte- Song Bird
Far Cry 3- Vaas
